A portmanteau or portmanteau word is a blend of two or more words or morphemes and their meanings into one new word, usually combining specifically the beginning syllables of one word with the end syllables of another. In linguistics, a portmanteau is defined as a single morph which represents two or more morphemes. An example of which is the combination of the words breakfast and lunch to create brunch.
